Paying your I-901 SEVIS Fee
When and how to pay your SEVIS fee as an international student.
If you’re applying for a F-1 Visa (student visa) for the first time, you will be required to pay the I-901 SEVIS Fee. The Student and Exchange Visitor Program (SEVP) keeps track of international students and ensures that they maintain their student visa status in the US. Every international student who will study in the US is expected to pay the $350 I-901 SEVIS Fee to SEVP.
Note: If you previously held an F-1 Visa, maintained status as a student, and are transferring to a different university or changing your program levels (undergraduate to graduate, etc.) using the same SEVIS ID (“N-number” on your Form I-20), you do not need to pay the $350 I-901 SEVIS Fee again.

When and how should I pay the SEVIS Fee?
As soon as you receive your Form I-20 (I-20) from your university’s international student office, you must visit fmjfee.com to pay your I-901 fee. Use the SEVIS ID from your Form I-20 and fill in your first and last name exactly as they appear in your passport.
Double check your credentials before paying the $350 fee - small errors can take several weeks to rectify with SEVP and can delay your F-1 Visa application process.
Note: you must pay your SEVIS Fee before your F-1 Visa interview appointment, but you should pay the fee as soon as your university’s international student office issues you an I-20 so that you have enough time to rectify any errors.
I’m done paying the SEVIS Fee - what next?
Once you have paid the $350 fee, you will be directed to download your SEVIS I-901 Payment Confirmation page. You must print and save this page as you will be required to submit a copy of this page to the US Embassy as part of your F-1 Visa application process. Confirm your credentials on the confirmation page and ensure that your school code and SEVIS ID match with the details printed on your I-20. Reach out to SEVP if you find any errors and allow up to 2 weeks to hear back from SEVP regarding your case.
